Small World Layouts

So welcome to 'No Picnic!'
It's a far cry from the original plans (Plan 1 and Plan 2 ) but it seems to have come out in the wash. I suppose I should be regaling these pages with an in-depth potted history of the line - how it was rescued from closure by a dedicated team of volunteers etc etc etc.- but that's just not for me.

The angle to 'No Picnic' has always been the challenge to make the track climb in a short space, and to experiment with the 009 track. For me the layout has achieved both of these ends - be it at a rather severe rate!!
I wanted to put more trees on this layout and to have a real 'green' feel about it, with a good setting tying together all the scenic elements and people. I have enjoyed imaging the whole tourist type preserved railway aspect, the people who would visit such a place and all their individual stories, but I don't think I could sincerely take it any further into historical data as some people so cleverly do.
Below you will find the photo's split into 4 main areas - The People, the Scenery, fumbling around at Night and that all important Basket.
| Do take a look at the rather good photo's of the custom built short coaches (cut 'n' shut I calls them!). Specially made to get around the curves. | ![]() |
