Small World Layouts
|
|
| It was a bright, brisk Saturday afternoon in
Tipton!
Mr Peter Dale was booked to give a talk on 'Railways of Cuba,' the raffle followed, Small World Layouts were present and the two large club layouts were admired and discussed! |

Mr Peter Dale spoke and displayed slides of the sugar cane railways of Cuba. These were still steam driven till around 2000-2003 and had very unique engines indeed. We were told that often the individual mills would change the colour of their locos from year to year. We saw a good collection of mostly black and silver (smokebox) but there were also blue and green locos included! The standard of photography was most impressive and the talk informative and entertaining from a man obviously passionate about his subject. (There is a little more detail - photo's/ railtours- concerning Cuban Cane Railways here... ) |
(Please note - this is an example photo, not one of Mr Peter Dale's) |

Thereafter followed the Raffle! Peter had very kindly donated a signed copy of one of his books - 'Somerset's Lost Railways' and there were a few bottles of wine abounding! One was miraculously unclaimed! How does that happen then?! |
| And your illustrious
webmaster was also there with 2 and a bit layouts!
'Langwaithe' and 'No Picnic' were present, and behaved themselves very well. The short coaches (LMS and Teak) attracted a lot of interest and comments. I also took along the project 'Stradivarius Sidings' just to gauge interest and act as a talking point. This is the converted Z Gauge project - now an N Gauge project...do try to keep up! Anyroad, more details and it's own 'Diary' section of the site will be following. I must say that everyone was very kind and complimentary and I enjoyed the first outing with my layouts very much. So thank you all
