For more on the origins of shunting puzzles there is an excellent web site - 'The Model Railways Shunting Puzzles Website.' |

| The Inglenook is a classic shunting puzzle. My version will involve 2 sidings and a loop to take the third set of trucks. The sidings will be designed to hold 3 trucks and the longer loop will hold 3 cars and a loco - ish! |
|
| I lay no particular claim to originality of the track plan as I first saw a version of it here called 'Smallest (interesting) Inglenook?' on Carl Arendt's excellent web site 'Micro Layout Design Gallery.' |
| Wanting some sort of original twist on it I decided to build it in the lid of the suitcase that 'Langwaithe' is in. This will prove challenging as I have to build it above the level of the lid to get trains onto the layout and back off on a cassette style system. | |
| I am not a huge fan of Hornby's HVR2 but it can be okay for mocking up track plans. What do you think? |
| And finally, before the work begins in earnest and
photo's start to arrive, I am practising hard at the puzzle itself,
which I find very hard! Why not give it a go online? Click on the
picture on the right, and good luck. Post
back with how many moves you took - and I want a screen
shot! - and earn your place on the League Table!!
