The Construction of 'Strad Sidings.'

HI! Welcome to the 'Strad Sidings' construction diary. To view any of the pictures in a large view, simply click on them!
7th July 2006 Yes....2 months...'nuff with the nagging. It's silly season at work that's all I can say-oh, plus I been horticulturing (might be a word!?) lately. Have begun to make trees, apple tree type thingies mainly. I like them, they look okay. It's enough for me! Pictures to follow. Probably.

Anyhoo-on with the diary...!

Pic 1 - This shows the troublesome sector plate. Ton of gunge to keep it all in one place but consoled with the thought that it will be hidden away!

Pic 2 - This shows the close up of the laughingly titled 'mechanism!' Hah! That's a laugh! But it does at least work, for the moment.

Pic 3 - Tried and tested point rodding. Bit of Slaters plastic tubing and bronze wire. Dead cheap, dead effective and dead easy! Last one most important.

So anyroad. Am gathering steam (sic!) to electrify the damn thing! I detest electrics with almost a passion usually reserved for important things in life. Like football...!

8th May 2006 Right! So here goes! Another layout on the way - slowly! But some things don't change with my layouts...why do I always try and get too much into a a small space? It is bleedin' N gauge after all!!!

So I fancied an Inglenook puzzle layout, I liked the idea of the violin case being a musician an' all...seemed obvious really. Now I do realise that I am not the first, nowadays or in the past.

However I do have a transverser thingy (forgot what they're called exactly! No doubt someone will e-mail me and remind me!) and I am hoping to continue the track through the side and out one end of the case.

The pictures show the state of the track laying, minus point rodding to go in. There is also a pic of the trans..transdfj...trancsverdfhs....TRAIN SHIFTING THINGY! And before you comment it is only meant to move a shunting loco - 08, tank loco etc.

Click on the piccies and see if you like my new trick with thumbnails!!!
